Creating User-Friendly Content That Also Helps Your SEO

Creating User-Friendly Content That Also Helps Your SEO

05 September 2017

As Google continues to tweak its search engine algorithms, it has become far more focused on user-centered content. The goal is to provide people who use search engines with the most relevant results possible.

But how exactly can you create content that meets these user-centric guidelines? Here are a few steps you can take.

Clearly define your target audience

Obviously, no business is capable of reaching everyone. Your content marketing should focus on the specific audience your business most caters to.

Having a hard time determining your core audience? Consider these questions:

  • Who is most likely to buy my products or services?
  • What are that person’s specific pain points or issues they need addressed?
  • Is that person likely to spend money to resolve that issue?
  • What questions are they most likely to have for companies like mine?

Focus on your audience’s pain points

If you truly want your content to appeal to your target audience, you need to understand their concerns, problems and pain points. There are few types of content that have the same sort of persuasive power as content that will resolve a significant pain point experienced by a target demographic. Not only does it help people, but it also establishes you as an expert in your field.

A person looking for weight loss tips, for example, is probably looking for information beyond just “go out and get exercise,” and could very well be desperate for a solution that works for them.

Make your content interesting

There has to be a personal touch for content to truly be user-friendly. If people don’t find it interesting, they’re certainly not going to click to it, much less spend time reading it. Therefore, you should provide answers to questions you know your target customers are likely to have, or offer some sort of value given the pain points experienced by your target audience or the issues they are likely to care about.
