Essential Design Trends for 2023

09 November 2022

As we move into 2023 and beyond, you need to be aware of the hottest web design trends that are key to engaging viewers and increasing your web presence. In this article, we’re going to explore why you need to care about the latest web design trends, and then we’ll look at the top 5 trends we expect to have the biggest impact in 2023.

Why Is Web Design So Important?

Web design is critical for improving the user experience when they visit your site.  It helps guide visitors to where they want to be through a clear navigation structure. Have you ever been to a website where everything was cluttered, you couldn’t find the product or page you wanted, and ended up frustrated and left the site? That’s why web design is so important– it keeps people on your site for longer and increases the chance they’ll purchase your product or service.

Top 5 Essential Design Trends for 2023

These are the 5 website design trends we expect to be the most critical in 2023:

1) Simple Designs

Keeping your designs simple and uncluttered has been a mainstay in web design. However, we expect this to be truer in the coming year as users have less time to wait for pages to load or find what they want. This means adding simplicity to all areas of your page, including graphics, navigation, and color scheme.

2) Faster Page Loads

Speed is more important than ever since users want instant gratification. Plus, Google and other search engines now use page speed as one of their SEO ranking points. If you’re dealing with a slow page, there are a few steps you can take to try and remedy it. First, make sure all the code such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is clean and condensed. If your page has images, make sure they’re compressed. Finally, you can also use a content distribution network (CDN) to help speed things up.

3) Adaptive & Responsive Design

People use many different devices to access the web– tablets, mobile, and PC. Each of these mediums requires the page to load differently so that things like images and text aren’t bunched together or hidden. On mobile, it needs to be designed with people’s “thumbs” in mind. How will they access the hamburger menu? Can they zoom in and out on images? There’s no doubt that more and more people will exclusively be accessing the Internet via their mobile devices.

4) The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Takeover

AI is making its way into every aspect of our digital lives, and web design isn’t any different. A chatbot is the simplest way to incorporate AI into your web design plans because it can act as a customer service rep that answers questions and helps customers find products or services they’re looking for. It also improves the user experience since they can operate 24/7.

5) Video Content

One way for businesses to stand out among the competition is by adding video content to their website. This breaks up the text and images and gives people another way to engage with your content. Videos also allow you to pack in more information in the same amount of time it would take to read an article. Plus, if you create a YouTube channel, it can funnel in new visitors and leads to your website.

Of course, there are many more web design trends emerging in 2023. But we feel these are the 5 essential ones that will take your website to the next level.
